WebKinectNinja–WebSockets HTML5 and Kincet magic

ninjaToday I've just published a little demo of how we can build neat things upon the WebSockets API, Kinect and HTML5, inspired by all thoose wonderful Kinecthacks people have been showing and the utterly nice game FruitNinja , a game I can recommend bot for your mobile devices as well as for the XBOX 360 (Kinect)

KinectSDK and WebSockets rock!

We will not delve deeply into the code in this blog post, as this is an very early edition of the game, the plans are to make it public (if possible), enhance the skeleton part e bit more, today it’s just possible to move the “sword” by using the right hand, next version will support the legs, arms and head etc.  And it will also draw a skeleton image of the persons connected to the game.

So what is the story then;

By using a WPF application( written in C#) that uses the KinectSDK we are able to easily grab the movements of the actual user in front of the camera, these are then sent to the Web Socket Server (http://xsockets.net) who simply just sending messages through to those who listen, I this case the “game webpage”.

This messages are then sent to the game engine, that deals with the thing.

I will be presenting parts of this during some speaks later on this year (i.e BestOfDevSum) , and hopefully here at the blog as well.

Enjoy this un-edited video and don’t hesitate to ask my anything.
